Storing Games in the Cloud

Answer

When you enter a game it is initially only stored in memory. Use Save or Save as to store it permanently in a database. A save window appears in which you can type in all the relevant data about the game. The game is stored at the end of the database.

You can also store a Game in the Cloud directly.

It is also possible to use a Smartphone or a Tablet to create databases and store games. With ChessBase for Android or iPhone this is possible.

Using ChessBase 13 is the easiest way. Even if you don't have it, you can still save the games on the cloud with no restrictions, just be warned that to save them elsewhere from the cloud to a flashdrive or hard disk will require a copy of the program.

In the first step create a Cloud Database where your games should be stored. In ChessBase 13 click here on Cloud Databases.

Create a new Database, for example „Personal“.

The new database is also displayed now under „My Databases“ in the Database window.

You can drag and drop the PGN file to the Cloud Database or open the database with your games, and drag and drop them to the Cloud Database. After that you can access your Cloud Database at any time from any computer with ChessBase 13 (entering with your Playchess account) or via the MyGames browser app.

You can use the application “My Games” to work with chess games and positions on the cloud database server. You can create, open or delete databases.  Above the chess board there is a button entitled Databases. The small black arrow tells you that other functions are available.

The button Open PGN allows you to open a database that you have stored locally on your own computer.

Clicking on Create Database opens a dialog window.  Input the name of the new database and click OK. This will create a new database and store it on the cloud server.

Clicking on Open Database displays a list of the available databases.     In the columns you can see the names of the databases, the number of games in each database, and the name of the person who owns each database.

Delete Database deletes a database from the cloud server.

Note: It cannot be undone!
